Vanja Plisnic arrived to Perm
Serbian forward Vanja Plisnic joined Ural Great in its preseason camp in Perm.
Perm basketball fans already saw him play in the NEBL tournament of the 2001-02 season. On the 28th of January 2002 Ural Great won Vojvodina Novi Sad 101:83, Plisnic scored 11 points in that game and pulled 5 rebounds. In the second game played in Serbia Vojvodina got their back and won Perm team 88:78. Plisnic was one of the best players with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
In his interview for our website Vanja said that he remembers those games very well. At that time Ural Great used to be one of the best teams I had to play against. You had a great coach and really good players. Avleev and Panov made hard work to play against them. I think I played quite well. I remember your pre-game show, presentation of Ural Great with all the titles the team and its players won.
Question: Did those games influence your decision to sign for Ural Great?
Answer: Sure. The only hard thing to take it upon yourself is the distance between Serbia and Perm. I talked to Anzulovic and made up my mind. Coach told me that this move will help my basketball career. Russian Superleague is one of the strongest in Europe and this is the main reason for making decision to go to Ural Great. I forgot about long distances and so I am here.
Q: What are your plans for the season?
A: It is hard to tell something exact now, I havent met my teammates and do not know them. But I want to show the best of what I am able to do, and have my best games.
Q: Tell about your achievements in basketball.
A: In 2003 I won two titles in a row: Serbia-Montenegro Cup and World University games. In the finals of the university games we won Russian NT and I became MVP of the game. I did not follow Russian Superleague at that time so I do not remember the players I played against. I may only recall of Bykov.
Q: Will your family join you in Perm?
A: I arrived to Perm alone. I have a girlfriend in Croatia, her name is Ana. She is a model, works a lot and is always on the road. I think after Ural Great returns from preseason camp she will visit me in Perm.
Q: What would you like to tell Perm basketball fans?
A: I would ask our fans support Ural Great like they did 6 years ago in the game vs. Vojvodina. I believe together we can achieve much bigger results than if wed do it separately. I am an open person and will be happy to meet my fans and talk to them. I am glad I arrived to Perm and going to play my best in every game.
