Chief instructor of Ural Great cheerleading group Anna Agafonova and choreographer Daria Kultysheva told us about their groups plans for the 2007-2008 season.
.gafonova:
We are ready and happy to open the new season after summer holidays. In the first turn we plan to expand our group from eight to eleven girls. An odd number is better for choreography. In the early September we will organize casting, all girls wishing and willing to try themselves are welcomed.
Question: What will be the main selection criteria?
D.Kultysheva:
Appearance plays one of the main roles. A girl should be tall, in good shape, beautiful, look well both on the court and on the website photos. Good shape is obligatory for every dancer. As for the dancing requirements, they are much higher now than before, I am a very strict choreographer.
.gafonova:
Thats why we asked for a help of a professional choreographer. You never can dwell on your past achievements. You need to always set new more difficult goals for yourself.
Question to D.Kultysheva: Tell about yourself.
Answer: I graduated from the Perm state arts and culture institute and now work there. For the past three seasons I was in the Ural Great cheerleading group. For two years I worked with Evgeniy Panfilovs ballet troupe.
Q: What changes should we expect in the group comparing with the previous season?
.gafonova:
We will have a completely new dance program. People who come to see Ural Great home games are mostly always the same so we need to show them something new. In the new season well also have new outfits, more open and sexy.
What music will you use?
A: We are working on that. We will use different styles.
Q: What do you do on your practices?
D.Kultysheva: Now we are having introductory courses. The girls come from holidays and we work on their physical conditions, stretching. We will start main dancing practices on the 1st of September.
.gafonova:
Most part of our program will be devoted to the tenth anniversary year of Ural Great cheerleading group. We will refresh the best dances we had in these past years. Of course, they will not be exactly the same, we will try to give them new life. We also plan to organize some big event devoted to our anniversary in October or early November.
