February 21 Head coach comments on the game in Min.Vody

Sergei Belov

Sergei Belov:
"In my opinion the reason why we lost is that our opponents appeared to be psychologically stronger. To get into the group of four they are to win all the games remained and it mobilized Lokomotiv. As for us we lacked good offense this time. I'd criticized our defense in previous games, but now it is Pacesas to be blamed as he has not organised attacks of Ural Great the way it was before. And our play in defense against Ivanov was very bad, we let him have 21 points and 7 assists."
February 21 Higgins is out for about a week
Having been unable to show himself in Ural Great yet Sean Higgins got into the list of injured for about a week after the last game against Lokomotiv.
February 15 One more scorer?
Sean Higgins At today practice few people who came to watch and witnessed "white" Ural Great playing against "blue" Ural Great managed to get acquainted with Sean Higgins. American player proved himself to be a great scorer, he did not miss at all in the first half getting 15 points and his total result was also the best in the "white" team ( 27 points).
Another rookie Igor Molchanov was "blue". We remember him as he played against us in Korac Cup. Igor is not in good shape yet because of the back injury got in his previous team, anyway he's been the best in rebounds. Mikhail Dmitriev staying in Perm these days has been dressed in blue too, but he has not participated long as usual :-)
"White" Ural Great has won - 113:106
February 14 Practically 100% we are in TOP4
Because of wins of East teams in Group A we are most probable in play-offs. Not to get in Group G is practically impossible. But we should not relax as we will need points gained in the remaining games at the next stage...
February 4 Changes in the team roster

It was a hard game and a hard victory of our team yesterday in Samara. Though the difference during the game reached up to 15 points and we caught 30 rebounds more than opponents, the host team using heavy pressing managed to make the difference less. But that was all they could do... Ural Great had its first win in Group A - 57:65.

There is no Dragan Smiljanic in the team roster any more, his long decrease in play was the reason why Club Administration let him go back home.
December 22 Kredo University vs Ural Great
Sudden lost game against Kredo University - it was our last game in the East Division. According to Valdemaras Chomicius it was mostly because of a lot of mistakes in defense. In the second half defense got better, but shots did not reach the basket...
Alexei Pegushin did not play because of knee injury.
Anyway this result does not take us down from the 1st position in the Division...

Sergei Kushchenko:
"It is completely the fault of coaches and leading players. Only Sergei Chikalkin played quite well..."

November 23 Team - changes are coming...
Otis Winston (in the middle) At today meeting some changes in the team roster have been announced. The main news is signed contract with another American player Otis Winston (26 y.o, 200 cm, 90 kg, 1993-97 - Ohio State University, 1998 - USBL, Cagerz). Roy Tarpley is supposed to arrive at Perm at the end of the week. As for Ukranian foreign player Konstantin Tarasenko, coaching staff thinks he should still work at his physical. Up to now out of court is Alexander Rybalko, waiting for the second operation. Though Andrei Sheiko has already joined the team at practices, Sergei Belov believes they should not force the situation and rely upon Andrei only in the second round of the Championship. We are expecting to lose some players, Chizhov and Chadov are getting ready to leave for one of the Superleague clubs. Perhaps some other players will follow them...

Roy Tarpley (www.dallasobserver.com) Ural Great continues its transfer activity.
Playmaker Jeffrey Rogers, favourite of Perm spectators, is going to join the team in US tour (Letter of Clearance appeared to be mistake of Russian Basketball Federation).
Center Konstantin Tarasenko (29 y.o, 212 cm, 106 kg), playing for Stary Sobol last season, who came for try-out to Kazan is signed to the end of the season.
Though the most intriguing person is coming for try-out to Poland. It is former Dallas Maverics center Roy Tarpley (208 cm, born in 1964), who recently played for his personal reasons for Greek Aris, Olympiakos and Esperos.
While Willie Ladson failed to make an impression at our coaches completely...

He is signed with a month try-out. His agent introduces him as great leaper, rebounder and shot-blocker, playing very well with his back to the basket, great athlete finishing with a strong dunk.

(averaged: 17 points and 8 rebounds)
