Coach Coogue began coaching career with five seasons at the high school level. In that period his team made it to the national finals three times, winning it twice. In 1991 Googue was named High School Coach of the Year. The following two years he gained experience with the Russian National Team (22 and under) , first as assistant, then as head coach. At the same time coach Googue was as head coach of the Ural State Technical University. In that period his team made it to the national finals in student's league of Russia two times, winning it one. Next, he hired as the head coach at the first division level of play, which is the second highest men's basketball league in Russia. During the four seasons at this post, coach lead his team from 18th place to winning the championship. During the last two seasons ' 97-99, he have been the head coach at the Super League (highest) level, working with Ural Great in Perm. In the two seasons in Perm, he have accumulated a 78-21 record, taking UG from 23rd (last) place to 4th place in the Super League in past ' 98-99 season. Both years they won the title of Eastern Conference Champion, and season ' 98-99 he was named head coach of the Eastern All Stars at All-Star weekend. In ' 99-00 season he worked as the adviser in a team BASCO from Georgia and some time with team Autodor from Saratov (Russia) and also as the expert and analyst on web site CSKA (The team - champion of Russia). Coach Googue helped a team BASCO which participated in the final play-off games, in which a team has won and became the national champion. Now he's expert and analyst on web site CSKA for "Ask the Coach". Also he write for a magazine "The PLANET of Basketball" clauses about winning basketball. |
