On August 21 and 22 Ural Great played two exhibition games againts Iranian Paykan and Fagre teams from Tehran.
Perm team with its reserve on the court at the end of the second half lost the first game 72:74 (38:41).
ut we won the second game - 109:85 (56:31) despite 5 personal fouls to Shushakov, Bashminov, Pacesas, Chadov and Sheiko. Sergei Toporov moving with a slight limp first played for Ural Great in this game. Vladimir Poluyanov noticed he looked not bad at all.

mas Pacesas is the best in assists (18) and the second in long-distance shots (15);
Roman Dvinyaninov is the second in steals (9) and the third in long-distance shots (15).

Ural Great is N1 in Sports & Nations Tournament

We got the information that Ural Great won the last game against USA Select Team - 99:90 (50:45) and became the winner of Sports & Nations Tournament.
According to Vladimir Poluyanov it is hard to name the best players of the game as they fought for the victory all together.
Rman Dvinyuninov looked very good during all the game (19 points), he actually bombed opponents' basket with his tree-point shots (4 of 6 in the first half). Their usual game showed Pegushin (17), Bashminov (14 points and 10 rebounds) and Pacesas (15 points and 5 assists). lexander Pybalko (18 points and 7 rebounds) also managed to catch his game.

Ural Great is still ahead...

Our team finished the day with one more win, this time over Iranian NT - 95:75 (58:34).
After good start Ural Great coaches gave a chance to play actually to all our bench. Yuri Bezukladnikov (4 points) substituted Igor Kurashov (5 personal fouls in the first half) and played his first game at the tournament.
The best results that time belonged to defence players. Pacesas scored 24 points (4 of 6 long-distance shots), Shushakov - 15 points and 7 rebounds, Dvinyaninov - 15 points and 4 steals, Pegushin -14 points. lexander Bashminov was not as successful as before, but nevertheless he shot two dunks, caught 5 rebounds and 6 steals and made 2 blockshots.

Ural Great is still ahead...

The third day of Sports & People Tournament and the third win of Ural Great - 95:77 (47:39). This time the loser is Danone Honved (Hungary).
Top player of Ural Great was mas Pacesas (23 PTS - 6 of 8 three-point goals), he was perfect during all the game. lexei Pegushin (16 PTS) should also be said a word about as he led the game at the very start. lexander Bashminov had 12 PTS and 6 REB, ndrei Sheiko 15 PTS and 5 REB. Roman Dvinyaninov scored his usual "ten".
In Vladimir Poluyanov's words young and tall Hungarian team was ready to fight when they got into the basketball court but they seemed to lack experience and being one team (Hungarian team was much renewed) and it influenced the result. But in our coaches' opinion DanoneHonved looks better than Yugoslavians.

Ural Great is ahead...

With the second win 87:67 (43:34) against OKK Beograd (Yugoslavia) Ural Great leads the tournament.
In his telephone talk Vladimir Poluyanov said that our team started very aggressively. Positional attacks of Yugoslavs were met by tough defence and quick breaks of Ural Great. Tomas Pacesas was leading in the first half. The second half started with vigorous attacks of Yugoslavian players but Pegushin & Bashminov in tandem easily stopped them.
The first player in Ural Great was again Alexander Bashminov (18 min - 21 PTS, 3 BLK and 6 REB). He once more arose the excitement of Iranian spectators with five slam dunks. He was supported by his team-mates Pegushin (18 PTS), Dvinyaninov (10 PTS), Rybalko, Kurashov, Pacesas and Sheiko - 8 PTS each. Chizhov, Chadov and Bezukladnikov did not play.

First win of Ural Great

In first day Ural Great without great problems (except five fouls to Rybalko and Sheiko) won the game against U22 National Team of Iran - 98:54 (54:31). The starting five in our team were Rybalko, Pacesas, Dvinyaninov, Kurashov and Pegushin. According to Vladimir Poluyanov everyone had his chance to play but Yuri Bezukladnikov.
As for the atmosphere of the tournament spectators seem to like and appreciate good play and encourage all the teams. They especially like three point shoots and slam dunks. So our Alexander Bashminov has already become fans' favourite...
